So much to blog about today . . . so many important things going on in the world . . . I choose – TV. Yeah, call me lazy or whatever but I just want to talk about a couple of my favorite shows rather than delving into the more important things going on.
Last week’s episode of The Office: Hilarious. Really. The Office continues to surprise me this season. One episode will be “eh, okay” and the next has me saying, “Yes! Genius!” In this episode Andy finally finds out what everyone else already knows a) that Angela, despite her airs of propriety is a good old fashioned office ho and b) that she’s been hopping on the good foot and doing the bad thing with Dwight since, well – forever!
The duel was nothing short of fantastic, but sad as Dwight and Andy figure out that Angela’s been playing both of them all along. Props to Andy on using his Prius as a weapon though!
Then there’s Michael called into a meeting with CFO David Wallace. Economy’s bad, other branches are struggling, what exactly is Michael doing right? Michael, of course, has absolutely no idea and talks in gibber jabber while sharing a pasta lunch with David.
Favorite quotes:
Jim: “I mean eventually, he’ll (Andy) figure it out. When their kids have giant heads and beet-stained teeth. But right now it’s just… awkward.”
Michael: “So I was in the office. And I look over to our accounting division and there is Kevin Malone. Kevin is wearing a jacket that I’ve never seen before. And I call over to Kevin, ‘Kevin! Is that a tweed jacket?’ And he looks at me and he says, ‘Michael, yes it is a tweed jacket.’ And I look back at him and say, ‘I feel the NEED! The need for tweed.’”
Angela: ” I can’t believe they’re going to fight over me.” Kelly: “I guess people have fewer choices when they get older.”
I really can’t wait for this week’s episode!
Once again we ditched AI for The Biggest Loser. Didn’t even turn it on. Honestly, we probably won’t even give it a look until Hollywood. No need to rehash my reasons, but we’re just not interested in reveling in the weirdness and awkwardness of others. Blame the economy.

Here is another completely indulgent post regarding my favorite show….oh c’mon you know it – that’s right! The Office. Last night’s episode was what I had been waiting for – just good ole Michael back to his old self (post- Jan, but is she really gone? Doubtful; it’s hard to shake a psycho.) And by ‘old self’ I mean, selfish, tactless, rude, and completely lacking in any kind of self-awareness. Funnily enough, I will choose this Michael over sissified, pansy, having-three-vasectomies-cause-Jan-said-so Michael. I just can’t stand seeing a man in that condition – it’s a tragedy!
I loved the meeting of the “Five Fathers” – it was hilarious to see Andy and Kevin team up to get their precious parking spaces back, which I totally related to while working for the YMCA. Over the 2 years I worked there our parking spaces got pushed further and further away til I was beginning to feel like Milton on Office Space, where they move his desk around until he’s finally working in the basement. I digress.
Okay so before I get to favorite quotes – it has to be said that I am a little scared for Jim. I have this horrible feeling that Pam is going to break his heart. Is it just me? When he talked about proposing, didn’t she look a little scared? Like she hoped he was just bluffing? And when he acted like he really was going to propose (which was an awesome joke, I might add!) again, it looked like fear more than suprise. Maybe it’s just me….but I gotta wonder!
Okay, so favorite quotes:
Michael: I’m optimistic. Because everyday I get a little more desperate, and desperate situations yield the quickest results.
Michael: Use the woman on page 85 as a template.
Michael: What part of shorn’t don’t you understand, Kevin?
Michael: Okay, Wendy: Hot & Juicy Redhead!
Kevin: It’s just nice to win one.
Dwight: You’ll wait til next year’s chair catalogue comes out and find someone who’s still alive.

So we attempted to have a shin-dig of sorts last night to honor the return of our favorite television show – The Office. I made a themed snack menu (for all you Dunderheads, see below), we cleaned the house, and sent out e-vites.
It was sort of comical that the only guests able to come had never watched the Office. So, they were a little unsure of our apparent enthusiasm. Then we had forgotten how late The Office comes on now, so we watched American Idol first. Now if any of you caught AI last night, you are aware of what a travesty it was – I mean, Michael Johns, really?! You have so many other perfectly appropriate choices for a ticket home, and you choose the hot Australian? I just don’t get it. So that put a damper on the evening and led to a heated AI conversation between our two friends, us, and Jason’s mom – turns out we all faithfully watch AI.
Between the screaming (and laughing – they were having a good time) kids upstairs and the sadness of losing Michael Johns, I must admit that The Office was a little overshadowed. Sigh. Jason and I have plans to watch it online this weekend while Jonah is napping. What I did see of it was hilarious and pathetic – which is what makes it so completely awesome.
Poor Jason was obviously bummed that our party had a low turnout. He had that “Am I the nerdy kid in class?” look while I reassured him that not everyone loves the office like we do, and next time – it’s paper invites all the way.
For your reading pleasure, here is what the snack menu consisted of:
*Angela’s Famous Brownies
*Stanley’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels
*Oscars’s Chips & Salsa with “Mexican” Lemonade
